News:“Tools” for Father’s Day - Order Deadline: June 9th
First Church is offering the opportunity for you to honor your father with an alternative gift on Father’s Day. For many years, our beloved mothers have had recognition opportunities for Mother’s Day; now our fathers have the chance to be recognized in a special way as well.
Here’s how it works--look over the variety of items on the gift list; mark your selection(s); complete the recognition section as to whether your gift is in “honor of” or in “memory of,” and write your check to First Church with “Father’s Day Tools” on the memo line. It’s that easy!
Yes, I want to offer fathers across the globe hope for a better tomorrow! Fill out the form in the bulletin insert or contact Tami Kellberg at tami@fumcaustin.org or 478-5684 (ext. 204). The deadline for ordering “tools” is 12:00 noon on Monday, June 9th.
$5: Blanket
When disaster strikes overseas or here at home, blankets provide warmth, comfort, and a ray of hope.
$15: Seeds and Tools
For struggling farmers, hoes and shovels are lifelines of hope in tilling the soil, planting seeds, and clearing weeds. Simple, inexpensive garden tools and seeds allow farmers to grow vegetables and other food crops to feed their families.
$50: Rabbit Hutch and Two Pairs of Rabbits
Providing families with rabbits can increase family income. Rabbits are easy to care for and are famously prolific!
$100: Microcredit Loans
Small start-up loans help to jump-start a business. Once the initial loan is repaid, it becomes a part of a revolving loan fund for others who might not have the capital, collateral or the other requirements for a loan through traditional banking systems.
$200: Water Buffalo
These four-legged tractors provide a farm family with the power to significantly increase their food production, as well as a strong back to carry produce to market. A water buffalo translates into increased income and better health.
Tools “purchased” will be distributed by Church World Service, a United Methodist–related international ministry, to fathers across the globe in need of a helping hand as they work to support their families.
